This article will guide you on the technical specifications of the Roster Dashboard to give you a more detailed understanding of its various elements.

Table of contents

General information

The Roster Dashboard shows published personnel rostered shifts of the following Duty Categories:

  • Duty

  • Standby

  • Aircraft

Viewing windows

The Roster Dashboard displays shifts based on a window of time to closely follow shifts around the clock. To learn more about how this works, visit Roster Dashboard Viewing Windows.

Dashboard elements

With enough published roster data, you will have a Roster Dashboard that looks something like the below. As an overview, there are seven distinct elements that make up the dashboard.

  1. Current date and time

  2. Auto-refresh 30-second countdown timer (clickable for manual refresh)

  3. Base

    1. Related: Re-ordering Bases in the Roster Dashboard

  4. Rosterable Department (defined in Setup > Operations > Rostering Setup)

    1. See https://avinet.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AMKB/pages/1664647169/Roster+Dashboard+Overview#Setting-up-the-Roster-Dashboard for more details

  5. Finished shift (denoted with a check mark on the top-right of a shift block, when Shift End time has surpassed)

  6. Active shift (currently counting down; shows time before Shift End)

  7. Pending shift (Shift Start time is in the future)

Shift block elements

Zooming in to a shift, this is what it can display:

  1. Duty Period Shift Code and Shift Start time (hover for more details)

  2. Personnel name

  3. First available contact number (mobile number shown)

    1. The order of precedence is mobile first, then alternative, then phone number

    2. No element is visible if neither contact number fields are populated on the personnel profile

  4. Roster Personnel Note

    1. See Roster Personnel Notes in the Roster Dashboard for more details

  5. Shift Note (hover for more details)

    1. Related: Shift Notes in the Roster Dashboard

  6. Active shift countdown timer (time until Shift End; hover for more details)

    1. Related: https://avinet.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AMKB/pages/1666646034/What+you+see+on+the+Roster+Dashboard#Shift-countdown-timers

    2. The countdown timer is only visible if the current time is on or within the shift’s Start Time

    3. A check mark is visible instead if the current time has surpassed the shift’s End Time

    4. No element is visible in this location if neither of the above conditions are met (i.e., the shift’s Start Time is in the future)

  7. Phone number (if present on personnel profile; hover for more details)

  8. Alternative number (if present on personnel; hover for more details)

  9. Custom field(s)

Shift countdown timers

For active shifts, a countdown timer appears on the top-right corner of the containing element, showing the time left before the shift ends.

The timer also displays a colour based on pre-defined thresholds:

  • OK (green)

  • WARNING (yellow)

  • DANGER (red)

Each threshold has a value designated to it, which acts as a boundary when paired with adjacent thresholds. Currently, these values are not customisable, and are measured in hours.

  • OK - 10 hours

  • WARNING - 6 hours

  • DANGER - 3 hours

For example, the shift for Zenith Rath above has a shift duration of 1800-2330. Based on the current time the dashboard was viewed at, it calculated 5 hours 5 minutes left before the end of the shift.

Given the threshold, this time falls between WARNING and DANGER, thus displaying a yellow background.

Once an active shift is finished, the countdown timer will be replaced with a check mark:

The order of shifts

For each base and department, the shifts are ordered according to:

  1. Shifts before the current day

    1. With a start time, earliest shift first

    2. Without a start time, ordered instead by personnel name

  2. Shifts on the current day

    1. With a start time, earliest shift first

    2. Without a start time, ordered instead by personnel name

  3. Shifts following the current day

    1. With a start time, earliest shift first

    2. Without a start time, ordered instead by personnel name

These sets of shifts are separated by a dotted line. Shifts before and after the current day have a darker grey background colour to maintain focus on the current day.
